Night People

She leans her breast against the window

Wishing it was a loaded gun

She’s growing tired of barely living

Where she rarely feels the sun

She’s having thoughts of Indiana

And going back where she came from

This wicked life in California

She’s been having too much fun

When the night people come

And the night people go

It’s a party

When the night people come

She knows the way her parents taught her

It’s night and day and right and wrong

But in this tomb they call the city

Well they play a different song

And though she struggles to remember

And tries keep their vision clear

She’s looking back into the sunset

As it slowly disappears

The night people come

The night people go

It’s a party

The night people come

She wants to leave

She knows she needs to find the things she lacks

But every time the darker side just pulls her back

When the night people come

And the night people go

It’s a party

When the night people come

The night people come

And they keep on coming

The night people go

It’s a midnight party

The night people come

The night people, oh yeah

Keep on coming all night long

When the night people come

The night people
