St. Louis honored 84 year young Chuck Berry this weekend with an 8 foot statue. Pretty cool looking, you should google it.
Coincidently, I have been listening a lot to Chuck Berry this summer. At the start of the summer I wanted to make a fun summer playlist and took some time figuring out a mix. Then it came to me that Chuck Berry's greatest hits would make a perfect summer playlist. Sped up my daily walks and sounded good with the top down on the converible. I'd been enjoying it a lot when a couple of weeks ago I read a 9 month old quote from Jesse Winchester that he thought Chuck Berry was about the best. I thought it was weird that I hadn't heard a lot of discussion about Chuck and then I read Jesse's quote. Then this weekend I see the article on Chuck being honored.
Whatever the reason, it is nice to see Chuck Berry recognized for being a bigger than life icon in "ol St. Lou."
They're really rockin' in Boston
In Pittsburgh, Pa.
Deep in the heart of Texas
And round the 'Frisco Bay
All over St.Louis
And down in New Orleans
All the cats wanna dance with
Sweet Little Sixteen
Oh well, oh well, I feel so good today,
We touched ground on an international runway
Jet propelled back home, from over the seas to the U. S. A.
New York, Los Angeles, oh, how I yearned for you
Detroit, Chicago, Chattanooga, Baton Rouge
Let alone just to be at my home back in ol' St. Lou.
Did I miss the skyscrapers, did I miss the long freeway?
From the coast of California to the shores of Delaware Bay
You can bet your life I did, till I got back to the U. S. A.
