I haven't been able to check in lately, so I thought I do it now...
Belated happy birthday to Michael Brewer from April 14...looks like everyone else missed it, too.
If you haven't gotten your hands on Michael's new solo album or the reissue of the guys' very first release on compact disc for the first time, "Down In L.A.", please do so. A strong sale on this one might bode better to get the rest of the catalogue released.
Michael and Tom spoke at length after the fact of their time with the great Levon Helm at his Midnight Ramble in New York State a couple of years ago. They said it was one of the great experiences of their professional life. Levon died last week to a reoccurance of throat cancer. He would have been 72 on May 26th, the day after my birthday. He will be missed. Condolences to Dick Clark's family, and what do you say about Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees? He was in a coma, and came out of it over the weekend, but is fighting colorectal cancer. So much loss in that family.
Gordon Lightfoot has released what will probably be his last album of a stellar career. It consists of 19 tracks recorded live at Massey Hall in Toronto between 1998 and 2001, before his gastric aneurism in 2002 that almost killed him.
Rough year so far. I hope things smooth out a little. Best to all.
